Alana's Interests

Traveling: I love to travel. I have visited many places in North America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. I particularly hope to visit Australia, Russia, North Africa, and Japan one day. I also visit my cottage in Eastern Ontario often in the summers. I love to talk about places I’ve been and I love hearing about travel experiences from students!

Exercising: I have been weight lifting for a few years now and love going to the gym. I also do yoga and some dance fitness classes. I am not a fan of jogging or running.

Crafting: One of my hobbies is latch hooking, also called rug hooking. It is using a latch hook tool, yarn, and a grid to create large area rugs. I find it very relaxing.

Music and Television: I enjoy listening to music and watching movies and TV. I’m always looking for new recommendations, so feel free to share your favourite musical artists, TV shows, and movies.

Pets: I love chatting about pets and silly pet behaviour. I currently have a guinea pig named Chuck, but have also had rats, a budgie, a bearded dragon, and a cat in the past. If you are lucky, maybe Chuck will say hello during a lesson!

Alana's Bio

My name is Alana and I live in Canada in a large city in Southern Ontario. My interests include weight lifting, binge-watching Netflix, crafting, hanging out with my pet guinea pig Chuck, and relaxing at my cottage. I also love to travel and have been many places in North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia. I also love to hear about other countries that people have visited.

In university, I studied European History and love to learn about history in other parts of the world, too. I have been teaching English online for a few years now and I am also a Digital Marketing Specialist by trade.

I like my lessons to be fun and relaxed so my students and I can get to know each other and learn organically. I think that when we share stories and ideas and chat about things we like, we more easily learn phrases and vocabulary to describe them.

I’m looking forward to meeting you soon in a lesson!
