Science Fiction is a genre in TV, film, comics and literature. It’s often shortened to “sci-fi” or even “SF”. It is a genre of speculative fiction and deals with imaginative ideas such as futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel and aliens.
Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein in 1818 is one of the earliest works of sci-fi in the English language. But, the “golden age” of science fiction began in the Twentieth Century with TV shows like Star Trek.
Science Fiction is divided into “hard science fiction”, where the story is strictly based on scientific theory, and “soft science fiction”, where the focus is on psychology, economics and anthropology.
